Personal care is non-medical, hands-on assistance with essential activities of daily living, commonly called ADLs. These everyday activities may become more difficult because of aging, limited mobility, disability, illness, injury, or recovery after surgery.
Unlike companion care, which primarily focuses on social connection and help with everyday routines, personal care includes physical assistance with tasks such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.
Our goal is not to take over a client’s routine. We provide the appropriate level of assistance while encouraging each person to do as much as they can safely and comfortably.
Bathing is important for hygiene, skin health, comfort, and confidence, but it can present safety concerns for individuals with weakness, balance difficulties, or limited mobility.
Our caregivers provide discreet assistance with bathing, showering, and related personal hygiene tasks. Support is tailored to the client’s abilities and preferences while maintaining privacy and reducing the risk of slips or falls.
Buttons, zippers, shoes, and clothing changes can become challenging because of arthritis, weakness, limited range of motion, or other health concerns.
Caregivers can assist clients with selecting comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and getting dressed. We encourage participation whenever possible so clients can maintain confidence and independence in their daily routines.
Feeling clean and well-groomed can positively affect a person’s comfort, confidence, and emotional well-being.
Personal care assistance may include:
Every task is completed with patience, respect, and attention to the client’s personal preferences.
Our caregivers provide private, respectful assistance with toileting routines, continence care, and incontinence support.
We focus on protecting the client’s dignity, maintaining cleanliness, and helping reduce discomfort and safety risks.
Moving safely around the home may become difficult because of weakness, balance problems, joint pain, disability, or recovery from an illness or procedure.
Depending on the client’s care plan, caregivers may assist with:
Attentive mobility support can help clients feel more confident while reducing the likelihood of falls and injuries.
Good nutrition supports strength, energy, and overall wellness. Our caregivers can help plan and prepare meals based on the client’s preferences and documented dietary instructions.
When included in the care plan, caregivers may also provide mealtime assistance and encouragement. Families needing additional household support can combine personal care with our homemaker services.
Caregivers can provide medication reminders to help clients follow their established schedules. SuBon Home Care does not administer medication or provide skilled nursing services.
Caregivers provide an attentive presence and help clients complete daily routines more safely. They may also recognize and report changes in mobility, appetite, behavior, or general well-being according to the care plan and agency procedures.
Personal care services may be helpful for:
Care does not have to begin only after a crisis. Starting support early can make daily routines safer and help families prepare as care needs change.
Assistance with bathing, walking, transferring, and other daily activities can help reduce avoidable accidents and injuries.
Receiving the right support allows clients to participate in their routines and remain in familiar surroundings for as long as possible.
Sensitive personal care tasks are handled privately, patiently, and respectfully.
A caregiver can help clients maintain regular routines for hygiene, dressing, meals, mobility, and medication reminders.
Families gain reassurance knowing their loved one has dependable assistance from a compassionate caregiver.
Care plans can be reviewed and adjusted when a client’s schedule, abilities, or support needs change.
